There is no doubt that horses are one of the most beautiful creations under the sun. I lived and breathed horses as a young person but was never allowed to have one and circumstances in my life since have prevented me from that joy. But that does not take away from my appreciation and wonder in every portrait I paint. I want to recreate that velvety muzzle and the deep soulfulness in those beautiful eyes. I have also found it to be much more difficult to get good photos of horses than dogs. They just do not want to put those ears up and look alert. Often I find it better to work from "less than stellar" candid shots and then use other photos to "fill in the blanks". Consider having a commissioned portrait done of your horse.
